
Sideloading the Sensor Puck App

This text file describes how to install the Sensor Puck app (SilabsPuckV1.1.apk) onto 
a mobile phone over a USB cable.

These instructions assume that the PC is running Windows 7 and the mobile phone is
a Samsung Galaxy S4 running Android 4.4 (KitKat).  If you are using a different 
mobile phone or different version of Android, then the procedure may be slightly
different.

1. Install the USB driver for the mobile phone on the PC.  Execute the 
   "Samsung_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_v1.5.14.0.exe" program.
   
2. Connect the mobile phone to the PC with a USB cable.

3. When the "AutoPlay" dialog box appears on the PC, then select "Open device to
   view files".
   
4. Copy the Sensor Puck app from the PC to the mobile phone's download folder.

   a. On the PC, open the "Phone" folder.
   b. Open the "Download" folder.
   c. Drag the "SilabsPuckV1.1.apk" file into the download folder.
   
5. Enable apps to be installed from unknown sources.

   a. Open the Settings on the mobile phone.
   b. Tap on the "More" tab.
   c. Tap on "Security" settings.
   d. Tap on the check box for "Unknown Sources".
   e. When the "Unknown Sources" dialog box appears, then tap the "OK" button.
   
6. Install the Sensor Puck app on the mobile phone.

   a. Open the "MyFiles" app on the mobile phone.
   b. Tap on the "All files" folder.
   c. Tap on the "Download" folder.
   d. Tap on the "SilabsPuckV1.1.apk" file.
   e. Tap on the "Install" button.
   f. Tap on the "Open" button.
