Passive Keyless Entry

Passive keyless systems perform two simple functions: opening a door or trunk hatch with a touch on the handle and allowing the driver to start and stop the car with the push of a button. To realize these functions, a technologically advanced system is required that includes a new generation HF/LF fob and an in-cabin base station with its associated set of LF antennas plus touch sensors. The Si401x is an excellent choice for a single IC fob, integrating the MCU, AES-128 encryption, and RF transmitter. Silicon Labs’ EZRadioPRO® transceiver, complimented by the ultra low power C8051F98x/9x MCU offers a very high communication link budget (>130 dB) as well as very low power while in standby mode to preserve battery life.
