Pulse Oximeter

A Pulse Oximeter measures blood oxygen levels using infrared reflectivity. These types of devices are becoming increasingly common for self management of a variety of blood-related illnesses. They require high performance analog to capture transmitted signals and generate DC bias voltage as well as real-time processing for ratio conversion and look up tables.

Silicon Labs' Solutions for Pulse Oximeters

Silicon Labs Solutions   Customer Benefits

Fast & flexible processing unit: Silicon Labs has the fastest 8-bit CPU on the market. Even the lowest speed option (25 MHz) is significantly faster than a typical 8-bit or 16-bit MCU.

The unit can compute oxygen saturation levels very quickly so that a result can be displayed within a reasonable amount of time. This computation requires fast CPU capability.

Precision analog interfaces: Industry's best integrated analog peripheral with "standalone" level specifications. 12-bit ADC and DAC required for most pulse oximeter applications.

Accurate measurements on low-cost personal healthcare equipment that are as robust as high-dollar "hospital spec" units

Low power operation: Industry's lowest power MCU. Optimized power modes such as the ADC burst mode minimize the amount of time that analog peripherals are consuming power.

Longest battery life
