Si824x Block Diagram

Silicon Labs' Si824x audio drivers are isolated Class D gate drivers that power audio systems delivering from 30 W up to 1000 W of audio power. Based on Silicon Labs’ proprietary isolation technology, the Si824x Class D audio drivers incorporate input-to-output isolation, which enables level-translation of signals without additional external circuits. The Si824x audio drivers feature adjustable dead-time control for achieving optimal THD, overlap protection that safeguards against shoot-through current damage, robust immunity to latch-up and high-voltage transients, and lower BOM costs and PCB footprints compared to non-isolated gate drive solutions. See the sound quality performance of the Si824x audio driver over the audible spectrum using the Class D Sound Quality Demonstration.

Key Requirements for Multi-Tuner Automotive Radio Designs

Automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers understand that consumers expect a superior in-vehicle audio experience and are responding by designing sophisticated infotainment systems. The radio components used in today's vehicles need to be cost-effective while meeting rigorous automotive levels of performance. With the advent of multi-tuner automotive infotainment systems, car radio developers must now consider a wide range of performance requirements and new technologies in their designs.

Designing Wheel-Tuned, Digital-Display Radios with Next-Generation Radio ICs

As a growing number of portable applications such as mobile phones and portable media players integrate the FM radio function, there’s a misconception that traditional radios are no longer needed. In reality, wheel-tuned radios have remained immensely popular. This article will discuss how to design a mid-level wheel-tuned radio with an LCD to display frequencies, and it will explore the practical considerations in selecting audio ICs and display drivers, as well as how to leverage these technologies to deliver the best end-user radio tuning experience.
