OPENLPPOL-EVB

The OPENLPPOL-EVB is a 100 to 500 kHz single phase point-of-load evaluation board which facilitates rapid evaluation of several Silicon Labs isolation products, including the following:

  • Si8234 dual channel ISOdriver (4 A)
  • Si8512 high frequency ac current sensor
  • Si8540 dc current sensor.

 

This new EVB enables designers of SMPS, UPS, electronic lighting ballasts and other power delivery systems to quickly and easily evaluate the performance of the Si8234 ISOdriver in an open loop power delivery stage. 

The board uses two Si8512 ac current sensors to monitor the switching currents in the high-side and low-side FETs, respectively, and also includes an Si8540 dc current sensor to monitor the dc current delivered to the load.

Other than a commonly available dc power supply, all that is needed to begin evaluations is a simple PWM waveform generator which is used to vary the switching frequency and duty cycle.
