Silicon Labs' digital isolator family uses a novel RF isolation architecture fabricated in a standard, 100% CMOS device to deliver a highly integrated one-to-six-channel isolator that is one third the size of competing optocoupler solutions reducing the bill of material cost by as much as 50 percent. These CMOS-based digital isolator devices employ an RF coupler to transmit digital information across an isolation barrier, very high-speed operation at low power levels. These digital isolators are available in an 8-pin narrow-body and 16-pin narrow and 16-pin wide-body SOIC package. Two-speed grade options (1 and 150 Mbps) are available over the full temperature range and worse-case propagation delay of less than 10 ns. Digital isolator products are pin-for-pin compatible with competing optocoupler solutions.

The Si8460 digital isolator offers six forward channels. The Si8461 offers five forward channels and one reverse channel. The Si8462 offers four forward channels and two reverse channels. The Si8463 offers three forward channels and three reverse channels.

 

The Si8450/55 isolators offer five forward channels. The Si8451 offers four forward channels and one reverse channel. The Si8452 offers three forward channels and two reverse channels.

 

The Si8440/45 isolators offer four forward channels. The Si8441 offers three forward channels and one reverse channel. The Si8442 offers two forward channels and two reverse channels.

 

The Si8430/35 isolators offer three forward channels while the Si8431 offers two forward and one reverse.

 

 

The Si8410 offers one forward channel. The Si8420 offers two forward channels while the Si8421 offers one forward and one reverse channel. The Si8422 and Si8423 are pin compatible with industry-standard one-and two-channel isolators. Both devices have default high output states.


The Si840x offers a bidirectional I²C/SMBUS/PMBUS compatible digital isolation solution. The Si8400, available in NB SOIC-8, has two bidirectional isolated serial data and serial clock channels. The Si8405, available in a NB SOIC-16 package, adds two additional unidirectional isolated channels for system control signals, such as a reset and an interrupt, which are commonly required for complete I²C bus designs.

The Si84xx products are CSA and UL certified.
