Mixed-Signal ICs - Si471x FM Radio Transmitters

SummaryFeaturesDocumentationProducts Matrix

The Si471x is the industry's first 100% CMOS FM transmitter single chip IC. The Si4712/13 are the industry's first integrated transmitters with Receive Power Scan (RPS). The devices leverage Silicon Labs’ highly successful and proven FM receiver architecture, and offer unmatched integration and performance, allowing FM transmit and FM transmit with RPS to be added to any portable device by using a single chip. The Si471x offers industry-leading size, performance, low power consumption and ease of use.

The digital integration reduces the required external components of traditional offerings, resulting in a solution requiring only an external inductor and bypass capacitor, and PCB space of approximately 15 mm². The devices provide high reliability in device manufacturing, improved quality, easy design-in and software programmability.

The Si4711/13 support short range European Radio Data System (RDS) and the US Radio Broadcast Data System (RBDS) transmit, including all the symbol encoding, block synchronization and error correction functions. Using this feature, the Si4711/13 enable OEM branding, artist name and song title to be transmitted to an RDS/RBDS receiver.

The Si4712/13 RPS feature enables unprecedented ease of use. RPS allows the devices to scan the local receive band and recommend low-energy FM channels, which are ideal for interference-free short-range FM transmit.

Users are responsible to adjust their system’s radiated power levels to comply with local regulations on RF transmission (FCC, ETSI, ARIB, etc.).
