Russ Brennan Memorial Scholarship
Russ Brennan, Silicon Labs' former CFO, built a legacy based on integrity and hard work. He was committed to prudent financial management and was a valued business partner to the CEOs and management teams with whom he worked. His strong global business acumen and commitment to open dialog and honesty characterized his actions. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Russ also felt strongly about mentoring. Silicon Labs' $25,000 scholarship fund honors that spirit and is dedicated to furthering the education of young people.
August 1954 - May 2006
The Russ Brennan Memorial Scholarship Fund can be awarded to high school seniors who enroll in a full-time, four-year U.S. college undergraduate program or students currently attending a U.S. college, in good standing, and focused on preferred majors in the fields of finance, economics, accounting, science or engineering. Qualifying candidates must be the children, younger siblings, nieces and/or nephews of employees or current Silicon Labs interns. The scholarship can be awarded in its entirety to one student or divided and awarded to multiple candidates at the committee's discretion. The scholarship is payable directly to a four-year university upon confirmation of enrollment. If you have previously been the recipient of the Russ Brennan Memorial Scholarship, you may not submit an application.
Each application will be evaluated based on a weighted average of the following requirements:
- Essay demonstrating your commitment to values Russ Brennan embodied during his career including work ethic, integrity and mentoring. Essay should be no longer than 3 pages, typed, double-spaced.
- GPA performance
- Two recommendations from current or previous teachers in the preferred fields of finance, economics, accounting, science or engineering
- Extracurricular activities and awards
- Community service
- Financial need
The following list of items must included in order to apply for the Russ Brennan Memorial Scholarship:
- Completed application
- Completed essay
- Current high school or college transcripts
- Two teacher recommendations
