I have mistakenly put the processor into EM4 mode on startup and now i am unable to get Simplicity Studio to connect to the device and program the code. Can I recover the device?
You can recover the device by performing what's called a "Debug Unlock". This will completely erase the device and allow you to connect to it again. This process can be performed by either Simplicity Commander or the Flash Programmer within Simplicity Studio. To find these tools, navigate to the launcher page and select the [Tools] icon. This will open a list of tools, where you can select either [Simplicity Commander] or [Flash Programmer]. In either tool, select [Unlock Debug Access] to erase and unlock the device.
Note that when the device is in EM4, the debug circuitry is turned off in order to save as much power as possible. It is not possible to remain connected to the device when it is in EM4. However, it is possible to remain connected to the device when it is in EM3.
