I have, at 2 occasion, as a consultant, concluded that in the environment the circuit was in the noise margin at Vdd(min0 was insufficient and raising Vdd took care of the problems
If you are at Vdd)min) and your power supply is not perfect, you will find some units (those that actuallly Vdd min is a min (yhere is a tolerance) qwill fail. the case I remember about 5% unit failed.
