Other than using the Reset pin, are there other ways of issuing a device reset by toggling an external signal?
In addition to the reset pin, most of our MCUs also include two additional methods of issuing an external reset. The first of these is to use the Comparator as the reset source. A code example for configuring the comparator as a reset source can be found in the 'Examples' directory of the Silicon Labs IDE install directory for the device you are using. Further information can be found in the 'Reset Sources' chapter and the 'Comparator' chapter of the MCU device family data sheet.
Some of our MCUs have an additional pin-based reset source which uses the external convert (CNVSTR) start signal from the ADC to initiate a reset event. More information on configuring this reset source can be found in the 'Reset Sources' chapter of the MCU device family data sheet.
