Please try installing Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 (not (or at least in addition to) Microsoft Edge) and see if that resolves the issue (Internet Explorer 11 (64-Bit)). IE 11 does not need to be the default system browser, but it does seem it needs to be installed when using Windows 7 and the latest version of Simplicity Studio.
Let me know if that resolves the issue or not.
