Note: This article applies to Studio v3. For Studio v4, the package installer manages and updates customized installations on a part by part basis. If the automatic update system fails, the latest version of any package can be installed as shown in this article.
I used the Custom Install option when I installed Simplicity Studio. I know you just released new products, but my Simplicity Studio doesn't show these devices, even after I completed the [Update Software] process. How can I add these new releases to my Studio installation?
When you choose the Custom Install option (or when later adding/removing packages), you can select which product families you want to install support for. You also then have the power to specify what specific parts in each of those selected families you want to install (the default setting is to install support for all parts in any selected family).
You can tell which product families you have previously customized by the availability of the [Restore Defaults] button, which is only present on product families that have been further customized. See the example below:
If you have customized the part selection to this extent, even if you did so in an effort to ensure support for all parts by manually selecting all available checkboxes, then when any new parts in that family are released to Simplicity Studio, your installation will not automatically add support for them. The recommended usage if you desire support for all products is to leave the family customization at the default (all parts) setting. However, if you require a selective installation using this additional customization, you'll need to follow these steps to add support for new products:
