I have researched but i hope to get some suggestions from the pros here.
I am thinking of using the WT-41 in an application where I need the extra long range that WT-41 offers. i would like to use it as a receiver to hundreds of low cost bluetooth transmitters that will transmit their UUID along with sensor value once a few seconds. Those transmitters should be low cost (around USD 2-3) and have low energy consumption. WT-41 will be in motion and does not need to connect to many transmitters simultaneously.
There is a wide variety of transmitters available however i would like your recommendation on the best options.
The application that you describe here sounds like something that would be more appropriate for a broadcaster/observer application model using Bluetooth Low Energy. The WT41 is a "classic" Bluetooth module, and classic Bluetooth does not provide any straightforward way to broadcast or scan with received payload data in this way. Connection establishment between two classic Bluetooth modules also usually takes a few seconds for each device.
I would recommend looking into either the BLE121LR or the newly released BGM111 module:
These modules can broadcast custom data, and scan for this data on the receiving end. The stacks that run on each can perform in all of the defined BLE roles, namely broadcaster, observer, central, and peripheral.
