Gateway: What is the purpose of the eeprom.dat file?

Question:
What is the purpose of the eeprom.dat file in Z/IP Gateway?
Answer:
The eeprom.dat files content is the data being probed during inclusion, command classes, command classes supported securely, granted keys etc. The content is different from the content of the external NVM connected to the Z-wave module. When for instance doing a node info cached get, the data will be read from the eeprom.dat file.
If doing a node info cached get, the reported data will be coming from the eeprom.dat file, unless you set the age to force a refresh. This allows Z/IP clients to serve network information without causing excessive traffic on the Z-wave network, and it enables a Z/IP client to request a "NIF" from sleeping nodes.
Z/IP Gateway have been implemented to support older versions, such that if you update Z/IP Gateway, it will be able to read an existing eeprom.dat file.
