What is touchlink? Will paring pair with the entire network? Can I use multiple hubs? How come Hue Hub only shows Ikea bulbs but not with Ikea dimmers. But you can pair the dimmers with the hub anyways. What is a paring etc?
Any videos that talk about this. I'm not interested in the frequencies or energy efficiency, atleast not right now.
Which is the preferred wireless protocol at this point?
I am looking to setup a smart home with controlled locks lights and cameras.
Any help is welcomed.
A short list:
WiFi devices are part of your local LAN. Anyone who has access to your LAN has access to your devices. This could be guests you’ve shared your WiFi password with, or it could be bad actors who have opened up a backdoor into a computer or device on your network .
WiFi devices compete for bandwidth with all your other WiFi devices. A large file transfer on your LAN’s WiFi can cause delays for your WiFi smart home devices.
WiFi requires relatively high power, which is why you don’t typically see battery powered WiFi devices.0 So things that are difficult to wire to power, like door locks and various types of sensors aren’t well suited for WiFi.
Dealing with WiFi dead zones in your home tends to be more expensive. If you want to put a device in an area where WiFi is poor, you need to extend your WiFi infrastructure. ZigBee and Z-Wave create automatic mesh networks; a cheap smart plug is all you need to provide a bridge to any dead areas in your home.
WiFi devices that don’t support the maximum standard supported by your WiFi access point can slow down communications for all WiFi devices on your network. A single 802.11g device can slow down an 802.11n or 802.11ac network for all 802.11n/802.11ac devices. And as WiFi home control devices don’t need massive amounts of bandwidth, they’re not using 802.11ac chipsets. The details as to why this is are pretty complex (having to do with time slots, signal quality, and coding rates), so I’m not going to go into them here, but a single cheap WiFi home control device can noticeably slow down your entire WiFi network (you can mitigate against this by running your home control stuff off a separate WiFi router, but if you’re going to go to all that trouble, why not just go with Z-Wave of ZigBee in the first place?)
0 — just to be clear, I’m talking about home control devices. Obviously we do have battery powered WiFi devices like smartphones and laptops and tablets and such that get recharged daily and which have fairly sizeable batteries.
I set the IAR Printf formatter setting to "Large" instead of the default "Small" value by following this sequence:
1- Project --> Properties --> C/C++ Build --> Settings --> Tool Settings --> Library Options 1
2- I select the "Large" option for the "Printf formatter" setting as follows:
3- Apply and Close
If I compile my project at this point, everything is OK. But when I run the App Builder and generate the project, this specific setting is lost and returns to "Small" just like this:
Is there a way to prevent this from happening when I need to generate my project with the App Builder?
I 've created a multi hop zigbee network, using sleepy end devices, routers for range extension and one coordinator, and all of them send report to coordinator every 5 secs.
Now, I want to put periodically my routers to sleep. Firstly, I want to know if that's possible, although I found the idle/sleep callback on callbacks tab.
If this is possible, I want to ask how can I do this, and secondly what happens if a router sleeps and an end device tries to send to coordinator VIA this sleepy router.
Thanks in advance,
I want to know the maximum number of zigbee devices(Like Router, End devices and Sleepy End Devices) we can add to Z3GatewayHost application?
Here Z3GatewayHost act as a Coordinator and I use MGM210PA32JIA2 zigbee chipset.
I have gone through this below link:
And observed maximum number of child devices supported are 64.
Is it same for this MGM210PA32JIA2 chipset as well, I am using Latest gecko suite v3.1 for my Z3GatewayHost application?
Dear sir, we are going to develop a mesh product by using EFR32BG13, which will be controlled by APP on mobile phone. When do you open the Mesh Library for Mobile App Development?
I am using EFR32MG12 as my coordinator.
In the network till now i tried a use many 3rd party devices. but i am getting some fake alarm because of the less sensitivity.
can please suggest me any one good Pet-Immune Motion Sensor along with alarm in the sensor device.
i know my question is not related to silicon labs coordinator but just i am write to know any helpful information related to this here.
please let me know. Thanking you.
Apologies if this has has already been answered but I have searched the Silabs website and I can't find an answer.
Do the latest Zigbee & BLE stacks from Silabs provide GCC compiler support for Zigbee & BLE for dynamic multi-protocol applications on EFR32MG?
Or is the IAR compiler still required?
I am using EFR32MG21 Wireless gecko board as Z3Gateway host and MGM210PA32JIA2 module as my router.
I want to transmit 200 bytes data from gateway to router and router to gateway. So I used fragmentation method like I called this function emAfFragmentationSendUnicast() when transmitting data from router to gateway.
Here the data(200 bytes) is transmitting from router to gateway but multiple times . Here I am using apsframe.options as shown below, and emberFragmentWindowSize as 5:
ApsFrame.options = EMBER_APS_OPTION_SOURCE_EUI64|\
If I use EMBER_APS_OPTION_RETRY in apsframe.option complete data is transferring 3 times without this, if there are 3 fragments last 2 fragments are going multiple times.
So can some one suggest a solution for my issue is there any thing I am missing here in the settings?
And how this fragmentation method I can apply at my Z3Gateway+NCP side, Is there any example for it? Like I need to send 200 bytes from Z3Gateway Host to end device.
I am using EFR32MG12 as my coordinator.
I going to add this in BRD4161A Rev 03 on PCB broad.
but here i have a doubt here. for flashing the firmware i connect to the BRD4161A to Simplicity studio v5.
the using :
network form 12 3 0x1234
plugin network-creator start 1
plugin network-creator-security open-network
with the above commands from CLI I will form the network and i will add the 3rd party consumer device node into the network with the coordinator.
and later i am printing out the 3rd party device via Serial output UART TO esp32.
But now if i want add the NEW DEVICES into the network after some time the network is going to network_closed in coordinator. BECAUSE NETWORK CLOSED AFTER FEW SECONDS.
so now i can able to add the devices into the network only when i using the plugin network-creator-security open-network but after mounting the BRD4161A on the PCB its not possible for me to connect the device every time to Simplicity studio and to give the open-network.
for this i am want to send the open-network command from the ESP32 to EFR32.
"OpenNetwork": "plugin network-creator-security open-network".
I am receiving this message via UART_RX to EFR32.
so now in ZCL-FRAMWWORK-CORE/network-cli.c in which funcation in need to make changes for this to operatio open-network via uart_rx.
please let me know, thanking you.
I am working with the Mesh networking and Border Router kits. I have followed QSG102 and have reached the Android /iOS section 7 and 8.3. The bit bucket account does not seem to work for me so unable to download and try this option.
Next in section 8, I am able to talk to my End Node device over "Launch Console". It reports that the device is trying to join a network. Now I go to browser and connect to the Border Router Web Server. The web server page comes up. I press discover devices and nothing happens.
How can I debug this scenario. Is there a CLI to help me debug the NCP application?
Right now i am using EFR32MG12 as z3light and z3switch for testing for my zigbee project.
I want to build my own Hardware for my Home Automation Project. I read that ERM32MG12 is not flexible for the new design.
please suggest me which is more comfortable and economical to use for new design using zigbee in this series(EFR32).
please let me know, thanking you.
I have an issue related to the OTA and the bootloader that it results in a firmware downgrade. The issue appears when the firmware is upgraded via SWD (Commander.exe) with a higher version number but the OTA external memory contains a lower firmware version. In this case, when OTA client discovers the server, it automatically flashed with the firmware in OTA memory despite the version. In addition, the image type ID is also ignored.
Is it the expected behavior?
Thank you in advance
