Si86xx Digital Isolator Evaluation Kit​

The Si86xx Digital Isolator Evaluation Kit provides a convenient engineering breakout board for simplifying evaluations of the Si86xx isolation product family. It includes four different isolators​ (2, 5 and 6-channel) as well as two bidirectional I2C compliant isolators.

Si86xx Linear Isolation Reference Design​

The Si86xx Linear Isolation Reference Design​ provides a high performance alternative to expensive isolation amplifiers used to implement analog signal isolation. Includes three different analog isolation circuits supporting bandwidth from 100 to 500 kHz.

ISOvolt Isolated Reference Design

The ISOvolt Reference Design provides the necessary isolated power supply for the secondary side of the isolation interface with a ​plug and play solution for up-to 3W of isolated continuous output power with 78% efficiency, fold-back current limiting, thermal protection and flexibility to allow for 3V or 5V inputs and outputs.

Silicon Labs UL/CSA/VDE certified Si86xx digital isolators are available in isolation ratings of 2.5kVrms, 3.75kVrms and 5.0kVrms with 1 to 6 channels per package and data rates from DC to 150Mbps (depending on part number). This series is 100% package and pin-compatible with the popular Si84xx digital isolator family, and is targeted toward high electrical noise applications. Si86xx enhancements (Figure 1) include Schmitt-triggered inputs for higher input noise immunity, increased ESD protection, high noise rejection linear regulators to ensure quiet bias voltage, lower power oscillators for greater operating efficiency and faster output buffers with tightened 50?? source impedance for better matching. Compared to competing digital isolators, Si86xx products provide near zero EMI emissions and significant field immunity advantages which ease EMC compliance challenges. These isolators feature the industry’s highest data rate (150 Mbps) across the widest temperature range (-40 to 125 ºC) and low power operation of <1.6 mA per channel at 1 Mbps. Package options include wide body SOIC-16 rated at 5kVrms; and narrow body SOIC-8 and SOIC-16 rated at 3.75kVrms. Table 1 compares the Si86xx to the other Silicon Labs digital isolator families.

 

Low noise environment applications should use the lower-cost Si84xx pin-compatible digital isolator series. Table 1 summarizes the key differences between the Si84xx and Si86xx digital isolator families, while Table 2 shows the available Si84xx and Si86xx configurations.
