Powerful Hardware Features of the Thunderboard Platform
Originally created as a demo platform, the Thunderboard platform has transformed into an efficient development platform because of the following features:
BG22: Optimized Battery Powered Bluetooth LE
Compliant with the Bluetooth 5.2 SoC specifications, the BG22 supports all the latest and greatest features of Bluetooth 5.2; this includes enhanced advertisements, longer range, increased throughput, and real-time location services. The highly secure Bluetooth 5.2 SoC is made for high-volume products, it features:
Mobile Applications and Embedded Firmware Solutions
Thunderboard BG22 is more than just a demo board. The board contains a USB debug interface so that after you’ve experimented with the demo, you can run other firmware examples and rapidly prototype your hardware. Thunderboard BG22 also comes pre-loaded with an out-of-the-box example that works seamlessly with the Thunderboard mobile app, which can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. The example pulls all the sensors’ data and processes all that data into a human-readable format, updates the database, and then displays the data into the mobile app’s interface.
Equipped with the Mini Simplicity Connector, the Thunderboard BG22 also comes with extra debug interfaces such as the Advanced Energy Monitor (AEM), Packet Trace Interface (PTI), Virtual COM Port (VCOM), and Serial Wire Debug (SWD).
After you’ve unboxed your Thunderboard BG22 and experimented with the demo in the mobile app, we recommend you download our development tool – Simplicity Studio. This free eclipse-based IDE can be used for code editing, compiling, and debugging for Windows, OSX, and Linux. It also comes with pre-compiled demos, source codes, and documentation resources.
In cases when your Bluetooth use case is beyond what we’ve provided in the examples in Simplicity Studio, additional example projects can be found at docs.silabs.com.
