I cannot install the latest "CP210x USB to UART Bridge VCP Drivers" successfully

I am a newbie and tried to solve my cp210x issues on two different Windows 10 x64 installations (one 1803, the other updated to the latest) by reading and studying this forum.
I see in the device manager when choosing the option show hidden devices the "Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge (COM3)" in grey. But I cannot manage it. From time to time I could get message saying "USB device is not recognized - the last connected usb device to this computer has not worked correctly and Windows does not recognize it. Which is the right fool proved way to install the driver correctly? Thx Dan
OP, if/as Device Manager is only showing the device in grey only when "show hidden devices" is selected, is the device even plugged in? Or are you asking about software-first driver installs?
If/as you are on Windows 10, our VCP driver is distributed via Microsoft's Windows Update mechanism. Therefore, in Device Manager, right-click the device select "Update driver" then select "Search automatically for updated driver software". This will look on the Internet for the latest driver distributed for your CP210x devices (unless you've customized the device's VID and/or PID).

Are you working on the Silabs TB board?
Could you check if the VID/PID is the right one that could use the Silabs original VCP driver?
