EM4 locked out on a custom BGM111 (EFR32BG) - Hov to access
Hi Kenneth, Simplicity Commander supports also custom designs with WSTK. Connect a custom design via WSTK Debug Adapter board and then set WSTK Debug Mode into OUT mode and it should work. Just tested and could erase my custom BG22 design. How you are connecting your custom BGM111 design for erasing? Best Regards, Juha |

So in practice you have to use Mini Simplicity Connector header to use the VCOM UART for the external devices. Included the WSTK and the WSTK Debug Adapter board schematics if those are for interest. |

EXP_HEADER pins 12 and 14 (not 16) go to the Radio Board (typically UART).

Ok, good to hear you got it working!

Also good to remember to check the WSTK UART configuration in Debug Adapters -> Launch Console -> Admin using command "serial vcom". I often forget wrong settings there myself. It is possible to use WSTK via Mini Simplicity connector for debugging custom PCB designs. The Part number (SoC or Module) just have to set manually and then the SSv5 is happy to create examples, flash or debug. The part can be set via Debug Adapters -> Device Configuration menu -> Device hardware tab. Also remember to set Debug Mode as OUT (= external device) instead of MCU (=attached Radio Board). And when using Radio Board again, clear these settings (set as None I recall and the it will use the automatic Radio Board selection). |

Hi again, one of my colleagues reminded me that you could use NCP Commander also in this case by connecting the custom PCB serial pins into WSTK VCOM via Mini Simplicity connector for example. We always recommend using our Mini Simplicity header instead of Cortex header as we can provide SWD-debug interface, VCOM-uart interface, PTI for Network Analyzer and also AEM for Energy Profiling. |

Hi Timothy, "NCP Commander" does not support serial ports yet, the feature is on it's way but for now the legacy version "BGTool" has to be used instead. BR, Juha |

Clearing advertising data
Tyler above is correct, mobiles phones are caching some Bluetooth information so if Bluetooth disable-enable or restart won't help, maybe use an another Silabs board to see the correct advertising info or even some Windows/Linux/macOS application.
