I get the attached screen when I select NCP empty target as the demo for the subject part. I have Bluetooth SDK 2.1.1 selected. Does anyone one what could be the issue?
I'm not sure exactly how you are getting to the screen you attached. Are you running with a custom board or with a Silicon Labs starter kit? From the Launcher perspective if I expand the J-Link, then the Starter kit, then Module Radio board and highlight the EFR32BG1B232F256GM48, it doesn't show any Demos or Example programs available. But if I highlight at any level above that it does show a number of demos and example programs and I am able to successfully run the NCP - Empty target demo and to build and debug the NCP - Empty target Example. The reason no demos or examples are shown when the specific part number is highlighted is that the demos and examples are dependent on the board configuration as well as the specific part itself.
Please provide more details on the steps being used when the screen was captured.
Thank you for the additional picture, I am able to duplicate the results you are seeing. The demo selected by choosing the first listed demo in the DemoScreen picture isn't compatible with the EFR32BG1B232F256GM48, but if you select the last NCP - Empty target in the list, it is compatible and will download successfully. Simplicity Studio should give some explanation of which device(s) the demo is built for when the project is highlighted.
An alternative method of selecting a demo or example project to run is if you highlight the module board instead of the Starter Kit Mainboard (see attached picture BluetoothModuleSelection.png), by making that selection the Getting Started window will show the list of compatible demos that you can click to download (see attached picture BGM_Module_Demos.png).
I hope the options I listed above help you get going with your project.
I'm sorry that didn't work for you. The problem seems to be in selecting the correct demo for the board being used - when Simplicity Studio isn't listed the board information in the selection window to make it easier to select the correct demo. Are you using a custom board or one of the Silicon Labs starter kits? If using a custom board, then the pre-compiled demos might not be compatible with the board configuration and we would need more information about the board to configure and compile the Software Example for it instead of using a demo. If using a Silicon Labs starter kit, then the top level of the Starter Kit or else the Module Radio board should be selected to filter the demos to the proper kit. For example, if I select 'Blue Gecko BGM121 Wireless Starter Kit (SLWSTK6102A)' or one level under it 'BGM121 Bluetooth Module Radio Board (BRD4302A)' then the Demos listed in the Getting Started tab are filtered for the selection and any of the demos can be successfully downloaded and run.
I hope this information helps you move forward.
If from the Launcher perspective, you select the BGM111 Bluetooth Module Radio from the Device list, then clicking on 'Getting Started' gives the filtered list of pre-compiled demos and software examples that are available for the selected part. For the BGM111 the NCP - Empty target isn't one of the precompiled demos, but it is one of the Software Examples, so selecting that software example will give the option of starting that project and launching the Simplicity IDE to build the project and then download the code to the board.
The list of pre-compiled demos for that board and the Bluetooth SDK is this list (SOC - DTM, SOC - Empty, SOC - Smart Phone App, SOC - Thermometer and SOC - iBeacon). Perhaps the SOC - Empty demo would be equivalent to trying the NCP - Empty target?
I have installed Simpilicity V4 and try to test BGM111A.
But, I can't select Demo.
After the filter turn off, although I select some Demo(SOC - DTM, SOC - Empty, SOC - Smart Phone App, SOC - Thermometer and SOC - iBeacon), i found a error as "The part EFR32BG1B232F256GM48 is not compatible with the desired part."
is there a problems in Simplicity V4?
I have the same issue, "The part EFR32FG1V132F32GM48 is not compatible with the desired part.", this happens after update the board .
Was updated to the 15.3.562 version.
There are no precompiled demos for the BGM111A (BRD4300A Rev A01) board. Select one of the available sample projects and build and run it.
Please provide more details of what board you are using as well as the software stack that is being used. Are you saying before the WSTK adapter firmware was updated to 0v15p3b562 you were able to run the demo? If so what version was on the WSTK before it was updated?
Hello, I have the same problem:
I am trying to flash the ncp-empty-target firmware to a custom board using EFR32MG13P732F512GM48 throw a WSTK BRD4001A.
I have the same errors mentioned above of non compatibility and after I flash the firmware from the App Builder using Gecko SDK Suite v2.6.3: Bluetooth 2.12..3
I try to use BG Tools and then I get the following error:
The device is not responding. Check that:
- the kit is powered
- the module carrier is connected to the WSTK main board
- the baud rate is set correctly (default 115200)
When connecting to an external board through the BRD4001A, the target part has to be manually specified in the Debug Adapter window by right clicking on the J-Link line and selecting [Device configuration...] and then specifying the EFR32MG13P732F512GM48 in the [Target part] search window. Also the same part should be specified in the project settings.
BGTools is not used to flash the application, the Flash Programmer or Simplicity Commander should be used for flashing.
I hope this information helps.
