I realize shame on me for updating to the Beta build of Big Sur, but Simplicity Studio gets stuck on the License Acceptance page on first launch. I was curious about the timeline for when you think support will be updated. Or if there are beta builds of Simplicity that I could run in the meantime as well. Currently I’ve just been boot camping over to windows and using it there.
As far as the launch error though, Simplicity Launches and everything seems fine. Then the License Acceptance form pops up. As soon as that happens the software freeezes completely. It never even shows the radio buttons that you’re supposed to click. Thank you in advance and I apologize if it’s an annoying question.
Running SS5 on Big Sur and found that the Bluetooth Configurator is now broken. Try to open a .btconf file and you will get the following error message.
An internal error occurred during: "Generating apack_btConfig for project_name".
Failed to generate setup apack_btConfig exited with 134:
dyld: Library not loaded: /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreFoundation.framework/Versions/A/CoreFoundation
Referenced from: /Applications/Simplicity Studio.app/Contents/Eclipse/developer/adapter_packs/python/bin/python3

Restored my Mac to Catalina via Timemachine and viola, no error.
I have the same issue as yours after Big Sur update and I finally have a working solution.
Not sure if this works in your environment, but it did fix the issue.
The root cause is that CoreFundation folder is removed in Big Sur, so the library that depends on it would not going to work any more.
Thus I try to use anaconda to create a virtual python 3.6 environment and soft link the python file in SSv5. Somehow it works.
The following are the steps:
1. Create a python 3.6 anaconda environment. Activate it and find the location of python in the env.
In my case, it is /Users/user_name/opt/anaconda3/envs/studio/bin/python
2. Soft link all python files to that location in the following location.
ln -s /Users/yaoyu/opt/anaconda3/envs/studio/bin/python ./python
ln -s /Users/yaoyu/opt/anaconda3/envs/studio/bin/python ./python3
ln -s /Users/yaoyu/opt/anaconda3/envs/studio/bin/python ./python3.6
3. Open SSv5 again and rebuild. Voila!
Thank you - great work!
A decent get around while we await the official fix.
I went ahead and deleted the 4 duplicate posts. Silicon Labs will not support Simplicity Studio 4 on Big Sur. It is based on an old version of Eclipse that requires an old Java Runtime Engine that is not supported by Big Sur. If Simplicity Studio 5 cannot be used, then the only option I know of is to run Simplicity Studio 4 in a VM running either Ubuntu 20.04, Windows 10 or an MacOS Mojave or earlier.
thanks a lot, YAO YU LI
your solution could solve gatt_db files can't be generated issue. thanks so much. :)
