We are using the Kintex Ultrascale and hoping to recover the GTX transceiver output clock, route it through the Si 5338 for cleaning and submit that as a reference clock. We have found precedent using the Si5324 and its Hitless Switching with Phase Built-Out feature. This is described more in the post from Xilinx.
Will this work with the Si5338? Is there a better part Si Labs recommends for this type of design strategy?
The Si5338 is a clock generator with a relatively high loop bandwidth and as such is not intended to specifically perform jitter attenuation (i.e. clock cleaning). We do have a full portfolio of jitter attenuators. Take a look at the Si5342/44/45 family of devices. The Si534x jitter attenuators are our latest generation of high-performance jitter attenuators.
