Thank you for the Z-Wave PC Controller, it's a great piece of software! It has helped me solved many problems with my Z-Wave network.
I've successfully used it with a Z-Wave.me UZB dongle and an AeoTec Gen 5 Z-Stick. Works perfectly, so I bought three more UZB dongles for backup and experimentation.
Z-Wave PC Controller 5.38 immediately crashes (exits without an error message) as soon as it makes contact with the new UZB dongles!
Is there a log file? Any other way I can find out what the problem is? Is this a known issue?
I don't know why it works with one UZB but not three others.
I would appreciate any advise. Thank you!
I tried it on a surface pro 6 (win10 1903)
COM3 ControllerStaticLib Z-Wave 4.61
Z-Wave PC Controller 5.38 immediately crashes.
I tried it on two more PCs J5005 NUC and an 8th generation i5, both with Windows 10 1607. Same problem.
So, that's four different PCs. I don't think the computers are the problem. Mind you, it _works_ with the two dongles that I've owned for a while.. but it crashes immediately with _three_ new UZB dongles I just received.
Here is a video file of what it looks like.
I captured the video at 60 FPS for maximum detail. Here is the _last frame_ before the window disappears. There is NO error message.
Interesting! I just tried "Detect" on my Aeotec Z-Stick (which works fine in Z-Wave PC Controller) adn it is ControllerStaticLib Z-Wave 3.95, which is even older.
But, the UZB which works is 6.02.
Still, this may be an important clue! Maybe there is a problem with 4.61. I will look for a way to update my UZB sticks. Thank you!
After upgrading the UZB firmware through Z-Way (on a raspberry pi under raspbian), Z-Wave PC Controller now works fine!
You do not need a Z-Way license to use it to upgrade the firmware! http://raspberry-ip:8083/expert
Network - Controller Info - Firmware Update.
Enter "all" when asked for "access token".
Make sure you don't upgrade to "Bridge" firmware, stick with the normal type!
Posting this for people who find this thread in the future. Good luck! :)
