Ultra Low-Power Microcontrollers

The C8051F9xx 8-bit ultra low-power microcontroller (MCU) product family and SiM3U1xx and SiM3C1xx Precision32™ 32-bit MCU families have been designed from the ground up to offer the most power-efficient MCUs in the industry. The end result is an MCU solution that has been optimized to be the industry’s best across all metrics necessary to be truly considered “low power”: active mode, sleep mode and wake-up time. The MCUs leverage Silicon Labs’ state-of-the-art, patented low-power design technologies to achieve power reductions within every block of the MCU design, resulting lower power consumption than competing 32-bit solutions:

  • up to 33% lower active current
    (22 mA at 80 MHz or 275 µA/MHz) 
  • 100 times lower sleep current
    (0.35 µA with RTC enabled and 4 kB of RAM retention)
  • Fast-locking PLL enables frequency domain switching for optimal power management
  • Multiple clocking sources including low-power oscillators
    (20 MHz, 2.5 MHz, 16.4 kHz)
