Today, I am excited to share the 2023 Corporate Social Responsibility report, highlighting Silicon Labs’ commitment to sustainability and our communities. As the IoT continues to accelerate and transform nearly every aspect of our world, sustainability is at the heart of this tremendous expansion.

As a leader in secure, intelligent wireless connectivity, we recognize our pivotal role in building a more sustainable future. Through the power of connectivity and data, we are helping people and organizations across industries optimize energy use, reduce emissions, and minimize waste. We take this responsibility seriously, not just by helping our customers be more sustainable but also by practicing what we preach.

In 2023, we made great strides to create paths that mitigate climate change and build a more sustainable, great place to work.

Our 2023 sustainability achievements include:

  • Significantly Reduced Emissions: We successfully lowered scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions at our Austin headquarters by 60% from our 2018 baseline and increased our use of renewable energy, achieving our target ahead of schedule.
  • Boosted Renewable Energy Utilization: Elevated our Austin headquarters’ consumption to 68% renewable energy and 88% renewable electricity. We achieved 35% renewable energy globally and have implemented programs to increase our renewable energy use globally.
  • Cultivated Employee Excellence: Maintained our status as a certified Great Place to Work for the fifth consecutive year, with 99% of employees completing at least one continuing education course and 88% participating in at least one inclusion-focused course.

Moving into 2024, we’re proud to say our goals are furthering our cause – to deliver industry-leading, high-quality products to our customers, treat our suppliers and partners fairly, and maintain an ethical supply chain. We have set a Science-based target of a 90% absolute reduction in our scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by the end of 2030 and plan to keep engaging with our major suppliers on opportunities for science-based reduction targets to reduce our scope 3 emissions.

Above all, we’re committed to the people who make this a great workplace. We’re investing in initiatives that will foster a vibrant culture, help our teams build more skills, and continue to provide a safe, healthy, and satisfying workplace.

In 2023, we made remarkable strides forward, yet the journey continues. As of 2024, we are actively advancing our efforts even further. I recently signed a letter to the United Nations (UN) Global Compact confirming our commitment to their ten principles and becoming an official participant of their organization. This milestone represented a significant moment in publicly reinforcing our commitment to sustainability, resonating with our core value of "doing the right thing.”
