Apple’s Smart Home platform, HomeKit, just got smarter.

Apple has now added Thread to its ensemble of wireless protocols within HomeKit. Today, the ecosystem comprises Wi-Fi as the network’s backbone, Bluetooth® Low Energy for point-to-point, low-power communication and now Thread, which complements the former two with all the advantages of IP-based wireless mesh connectivity.
