About this Tech Talk
October 22 | 10 AM CT
IoT development increasingly happens within an open ecosystem spanning open-source software, GitHub repositories, development platforms, and communities where developers exchange knowledge, solve problems, and contribute new ideas. Together, these resources make it easier for developers to discover technologies, accelerate evaluation and integration, and draw on shared expertise throughout the development process.
In this Tech Talk, we’ll explore how Silicon Labs is expanding the developer experience through open-source software and participation in developer communities. We’ll look at how open development provides greater visibility, collaboration, and access to resources while complementing the tools, software, testing, and support needed to develop production-ready IoT products.
We’ll then put this into practice through Arduino. Using Silicon Labs-powered Arduino boards and community resources, we’ll show how developers can get started with wireless IoT development and explore Matter over Thread, Zigbee, and Bluetooth LE within the familiar Arduino ecosystem, together with available OpenThread RCP and Zigbee NCP resources. We’ll walk through available hardware, software, examples, and community support and demonstrate how these resources help developers move from exploration to working applications.
Finally, we’ll show how the same Silicon Labs-based hardware can provide a path beyond initial prototyping. Developers can begin with familiar Arduino APIs and later move to native Zephyr or Silicon Labs’ professional development workflows as their requirements grow—without necessarily changing the underlying hardware platform.
