Attend Works With Virtual, the Premiere IoT Developer Event

11/05/2024 | John Dixon | 3 Min Read

When Silicon Labs kicked off the first Works With conference five years ago, there was a massive sense of excitement as we were responding to a huge market shift in Smart Home devices. Its planning and execution touched all major smart home ecosystem companies, and Silicon Labs and our ecosystem partners took enormous care in planning the agenda, curating illuminating keynotes from industry leaders, and working out how to deliver what we knew would be an industry-defining event completely virtually. Today, with Works With virtual event only weeks away, we are excited to have added many different technical tracks experiencing major technological shifts and see the massive following for this event. This has become a can’t-miss event for tens of thousands of developers interested in attending our sessions, roundtables, workshops, and demos.

IoT Development: Where Innovation Meets Implementation

You may have participated in one of the live, in-person events we added this year in San Jose, Hyderabad, and Shanghai. These in-person events gave us an opportunity to connect with our customers and partners around the world and bring the highly technical content of Works With to a global audience. But our virtual event, which takes place on November 20th and 21st, is still the only place to access training, hands-on workshops, and expert instruction at no cost. This two-day event is specifically for IoT developers looking for the latest tools, technologies, trends, and techniques to accelerate development and bring their ideas to life as quickly as possible.

Connect With Who’s Who in IoT and Learn About the Technologies that Matter to You

One of the reasons for the exponential growth of Works With has been the access we give attendees to the best and brightest in the industry. Silicon Labs President and CEO Matt Johnson is kicking off the event with his keynote, “Connecting the Future: How AI is accelerating the IoT,” where he will dive into all the ways AI is pushing the IoT forward. Joining Matt will be Silicon Labs CTO Daniel Cooley, who will explore the role of data in this new IoT paradigm. This year, we’re also thrilled to have Einfochips, an Arrow Company, presenting a session on building a Wi-Fi tracking platform with the Silicon Labs SiWx917.

Just like in years past, we’ve organized the Works With agenda into technology-specific tracks so attendees can maximize their time and sign up for the sessions they are most interested in.

These tracks include:

Bluetooth
This has been a big year for Bluetooth. With the growing popularity of Ambient IoT and energy harvesting, as well as the introduction of Bluetooth Channel Sounding, Bluetooth LE remains the workhorse of the IoT. These sessions will cover various topics, from energy harvesting to getting started with Silicon Labs’ Bluetooth Developer Journey.

Compute
Artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) are changing what’s possible for device manufacturers in various industries. Register for these Works With Virtual sessions and learn about our SoCs with built-in hardware accelerators and how developers implement feature-rich, low-power products at the edge.

IoT Trends
There is no overstating the importance of security in modern IoT development. Protecting devices from ever-present threats requires a systematic, secure-by-design approach. Learn about the most pressing security threats, what to expect in the future, and what you can do to be prepared.

LPWAN
Connectivity needs to happen wherever we are, and this increasingly means extending the range of our wireless networks. Our LPWAN sessions include an introduction to the various long-range technologies available and a demonstration of Z-Wave Long Range in action.

Matter
With the release of Matter 1.3, the specification continues to evolve. But after years of speculation, is it the right choice for your application? In these sessions, Silicon Labs and other industry leaders explore how to determine if Matter is right for your products and provide a first-hand look at how to get up and running with Matter projects.

Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi has become one of the most prevalent wireless technologies, with each new iteration bringing more capabilities suited for IoT development. In these sessions, we’ll discuss the evolution of Wi-Fi 4 to Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7, as well as how to develop low-power Wi-Fi applications. Attendees will also get hands-on instruction with the Silicon Labs SiWx917 SoC.

The Industry’s Premier IoT Developer Event

Works With has grown exponentially since 2020, both in attendance and scope. New technologies, ecosystems, and domains are added every year. 2021 saw the introduction of Amazon Sidewalk and Matter, both aimed at unifying development for smart home devices. In 2022, we expanded to the smart city domain, featuring Wi-SUN, a wireless mesh network that enables smart grid and smart lighting applications. This year, we’ve added connected health and are showcasing how wearable devices can improve health outcomes and reduce costs.

Register for Works With Virtual and help bridge the gap between the potential of the IoT and reality.
