This presentation will start with an introduction of why Isolation is a MUST requirement for safety in system circuit design, and an overview of regulatory standards organizations. Key terminology in safety, like creepage, clearance, rated voltage, working voltage and lifetime voltage will be covered. After that, the presentation will address Silicon Labs CMOS based capacitive coupling isolation technology and its’ application examples in automotive (BMS, battery charger and traction inverter). In the last session, the presentation will introduce Silicon Labs digital isolator and their applications, digital isolated gate driver and the corresponding techniques for driving four different power transistors (Silicon MOSFET, IGBT, SiC and GaN) .
Senior Applications Engineer
Kevin is an Application Engineer at Silicon Labs focusing on the company’s Isolation product line. He has 17 years of experience in the semiconductor industry and 3 years of experience in telecom product design. Kevin has been working for Silicon Labs since 2004 starting out as a Field Applications Engineer in China for the Wireline, MCU and Isolation products.
Prior to joining Silicon Labs, Kevin worked at HUAWEI technology as system hardware engineer for their optical network products. Kevin holds a master degree of Measuring Technology &Instruments from Jinlin University, China.
