Selecting Cellular LPWAN Technology for the IoT

Connecting a device to the cloud with long-range wireless technology is becoming more popular, especially in smart city and industrial applications. In these cases, high-throughput standards like LTE-Advanced (300Mbps) are overkill. Instead, these remote and sometimes mobile applications need low-power, narrowband standards such as LTE Cat 1, LTE-M, and NB-IoT. These standards are designed to connect devices and sensors that dribble data and operate at very low power, enabling multi-year battery life.

In this webinar, we’ll discuss the various narrowband standards, and focus mainly on LTE-M, which is largely deployed and ready to use. In addition to the cellular IoT connectivity, we’ll talk about ultra-low power microcontroller solutions, and how to get started with a new development tool that combines the best of low power connectivity with low power application capability (sensing, processing, and peripheral control).
