Most recently at Embedded World 2025, Unikie and Silicon Labs jointly showcased a wheel position detection solution running on a low-cost BG24 Bluetooth SoC. This solution enables tire pressure data to be accurately linked to each individual wheel using minimal hardware. The end application is a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), where reliable wheel identification is key to ensuring accurate and timely alerts.
The underlying principle is derived from Bluetooth AoA algorithms that normally require several sensors and resource-heavy mathematical processing and filtering to produce reliable positioning data.
In the showcase, Unikie’s AI algorithm runs on one Silicon Labs BG24 chip which, using the on-chip AI hardware accelerator, performs the calculation in just a few milliseconds.
