Works With 2021: Smart City Development and Wi-SUN

Discover how and why wireless connectivity is galvanizing Smart City development.

Overview

Through the implementation of IoT, cities can become technologically smart, using software and wireless communications to optimize the use of energy so that consumption is minimized.  Performance monitoring systems can deliver real-time insights into how public amenities are running, enabling dynamic operational change and optimization of overall performance and maintenance.

In a Smart City ecosystem, when you move away from the use of discrete, isolated products to product systems and from there to systems of systems that all link together, it’s important to make sure that the hardware delivered to the market is digitally enabled and ready to be interfaced with in the future.

In this seven-part series, we take a look at some of the latest Smart City developments and discuss why open, standards-based technology, like Wi-SUN, can fulfill the dream.
