TECH TALK

Wireless SoC Evolution: Balancing Compute, Power, Cost, and Complexity

About this Tech Talk

Wireless IoT applications are evolving rapidly. Devices that once only sensed, slept, and transmitted small packets are now expected to support Matter, multiprotocol connectivity, stronger security, over-the-air (OTA) updates, richer user experiences, and even AI at the edge. At the same time, customers continue to expect long battery life, low cost, robust wireless performance, long product lifetimes, and shorter development cycles.

As these requirements evolve, wireless SoC architectures must evolve as well. This talk examines the key architectural considerations behind modern wireless platforms, including compute, memory, connectivity, security, power management, system integration, and the engineering tradeoffs involved in balancing performance, energy efficiency, software complexity, RF design, and cost.

Through both customer and developer perspectives, attendees will gain a practical framework for evaluating wireless platforms, understanding how architectural decisions impact real-world product requirements, and selecting the right platform for the right application.
