A 2020 survey by Interpret finds that 10% of renters intend to purchase a smart home security system – a number within 2% of intentions of home owners, signaling a growing appetite for smart security in multiple dwelling units (MDUs) and rental units. Home buyers faced with a choice between homes with and without smart home capabilities are clearly choosing the former. Builders and property managers of MDUs have embraced this trend, and integrators are adding more smart home devices to their product assortments to meet this demand.
