This curriculum provides a practical introduction to developing Bluetooth LE applications using Zephyr on Silicon Labs wireless microcontrollers.
Overview
In this video we continue building our Bluetooth LE key finder application as part of a series, reducing power consumption using Zephyr’s power management features and optimizing the application.
We enable Zephyr’s power management and tickless idle mode to allow the device to sleep when idle, then further reduce consumption by disabling unused hardware and optimizing how the application behaves. This includes removing unnecessary LED activity and adjusting how work is scheduled to avoid waking the device when no output is required.
Along the way we use Simplicity Studio’s Energy Profiler to measure current consumption and understand the impact of each change.
By the end of this video your application is optimized for low power operation, achieving over one year of battery life from a CR2032 coin cell in its most common operating mode.
