This curriculum provides a practical introduction to developing Bluetooth LE applications using Zephyr on Silicon Labs wireless microcontrollers.
Overview
In this video we continue building our Bluetooth LE key finder application as part of a series, implementing the Bluetooth Find Me Target role. This allows the device to receive commands over Bluetooth and trigger visual and audible alerts to help locate it.
We follow the Find Me profile defined by the Bluetooth SIG, adding the Immediate Alert Service and its Alert Level characteristic. We then handle writes from a connected device to control alert behavior. Using the Simplicity Connect mobile app, you can trigger and clear alerts to test the system. Depending on the alert level, the LED and piezo buzzer indicate different states.
We also add the ability to clear alerts locally using the device’s buttons, allowing alerts to be cancelled directly on the hardware.
By the end of this video your device can act as a Find Me Target, responding to commands from a mobile app. This forms a key part of the overall system.
